Job Responsibilities
The Oncology Data Specialist Associate will:
- Complete assignments with the Quality Assurance team.
- Maintain an abstracting accuracy rate of at least 95%.
- Meet established productivity standards.
- Complete weekly productivity reports and timesheets.
- Submit data to state and national cancer registries when required.
- Participate in quality reviews and training activities.
- Attend department meetings and client meetings.
- Maintain required professional certifications and memberships.
- Handle patient information in accordance with HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
Requirements
Education and Certification
Applicants must have:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Certified Tumor Registrar (ODS-C) certification.
- Active membership in a national or local cancer registrar association.
- Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology coursework.
- A college or allied health degree is preferred.
Experience and Skills
Candidates should have:
- At least 2 years of oncology abstracting experience.
- Experience with STORES and AJCC Staging.
- Knowledge of 2018 data collection changes across standard setters.
- Recent experience meeting established productivity and accuracy standards.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use email and internet applications.
Experience with cancer registry and medical record systems such as Metriq, ERS, Oncolog, cNext, Meditech, and McKesson HPF is an advantage.
Remote Work Requirements
