The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has officially announced details regarding the Armed Forces Selection Board (AFSB) interview for candidates shortlisted after the successful conduct of the 78 Regular Course Screening Test, which was held nationwide on Saturday, 20 June 2026.
Candidates whose names appear on the shortlisted list are invited to appear before the Armed Forces Selection Board (AFSB) for interview from Saturday, 4 July to Wednesday, 19 August 2026 at the NDA Ribadu Campus (Old Site), Kaduna. This stage is the most important stage of the NDA admission process, as only candidates who successfully passed all the screening and interview stages will be considered for admission into the 78 Regular Course.

Overview of the NDA 78 Regular Course AFSB Interview
The AFSB interview exercise is designed to comprehensively assess candidates’ academic credentials, physical fitness, medical suitability, mental alertness, leadership potential and overall suitability for a career in the Nigerian Armed Forces.
All shortlisted candidates are required to appear before the AFSB in two batches, strictly according to their states of origin. Attendance outside an assigned batch or failure to report on the specified date will lead to automatic disqualification.
Batch 1 Interview Schedule and States
Candidates from the underlisted states are to report to the NDA Ribadu Campus for interview from:

Candidates in Batch 2 must report strictly on Saturday, 25 July 2026. Any Batch 2 candidate found around the NDA premises before this date shall be disqualified immediately.
Accommodation and Welfare During the AFSB Interview
All candidates who report as scheduled will be accommodated and fed throughout the duration of their stay at the NDA Ribadu Campus. This arrangement ensures that candidates can focus fully on the interview and screening exercises without external distractions.
Candidates are advised to bring adequate personal items and strictly comply with all NDA rules and regulations throughout the exercise.
Mandatory Identification Requirements
All candidates must come along with the following compulsory identification documents:
- National Identification Number (NIN) Slip.
- Bank Verification Number (BVN) Certificate.
Failure to present any of these documents will result in outright disqualification, regardless of performance in other aspects of the interview.
Nature of the Screening and Interview Exercise
All candidates will undergo a comprehensive screening exercise, which includes but is not limited to:
- Verification of documents (certificates and credentials).
- Medical fitness examination
- Physical fitness tests
- Individual and group obstacle exercises.
- 3.2-kilometre endurance race
- Leadership and psychological assessments.
Only candidates who successfully pass each stage of the screening exercise will be allowed to continue with the interview process. Any candidate who fails at any stage shall be disqualified immediately.
Documents Required for the AFSB Interview
Candidates MUST bring along the original copies and two (2) photocopies of the following documents:
a. JAMB UTME Registration Slip (2026)
This serves as proof of participation in the 2026 UTME and must be clearly printed.
b. NDA Acknowledgement Form and Screening Test Admission Card
These documents confirm the candidate’s registration and participation in the NDA Screening Test.
c. Academic Certificates and Testimonials
Candidates must present:
- Primary School certificates/testimonials
- Junior Secondary School certificates/testimonials
- Senior Secondary School certificates or statements of results
d. Birth Certificate or Declaration of Age
A Birth Certificate is preferable. However, a Declaration of Age is acceptable where a birth certificate is unavailable.
e. Certificate of State or Local Government Indigeneship
This document must be duly signed by:
- The Secretary to the State Government, or
- The Chairman of the Local Government, as applicable
Alternatively, certification obtained from a military officer of the rank of Lieutenant Colonel or equivalent and above (Nigerian Army, Navy, or Air Force) from the candidate’s state of origin may be accepted. Such certification must clearly indicate:
- Officer’s formation/unit
- Appointment
- Contact address
- Phone number and email address
- Formation/unit stamp and official endorsement
f. Letter of Consent Form
The Letter of Consent must be:
- Endorsed by the candidate’s parent or guardian
- Duly signed in a court of law
Candidates are to download both the Attestation Form and Letter of Consent Form from the NDA application portal or official website, complete them appropriately, and present them during the interview.
Any candidate who fails to present any of the listed documents, or presents documents with alterations, will be disqualified outright.
Items Candidates Must Bring Along
In addition to documents, candidates are required to come with the following personal and essential items:
a. Writing materials
b. Three (3) blue shorts and three (3) white round-neck T-shirts.
c. Two (2) pairs of white canvas shoes and three (3) pairs of white socks.
d. Toiletries
e. Non-refundable fee of ₦3,500.00 for verification and confirmation of WAEC/NECO/NABTEB/NBAIS and JAMB results.
f. Scratch cards for WAEC and/or NECO results for online verification.
g. Four (4) recent coloured passport photographs
h. The second copy of the Postcard Photograph that was presented and endorsed at the examination centre during the NDA Screening Test.
i. Transport money to and from Kaduna
Candidates are advised to label their personal items properly and avoid bringing prohibited materials.
